Review of Rashomon (1950) by Pj P — 16 Jan 2011
It's a long time since I've seen this weirdly mesmerising, unreliable witness, epoch-making work. One might need to be a film historian really to appreciate the contribution that Rashomon made to cinema, but it still seems fresh, and despite its portrayal of the general unreliability of human beings, it still ends with that note of kindness and decency.
You can't watch this without being aware that you're watching one of the truly great movies. And, er, may I say it? Awesome.
