Review of Raintree County (1957) by Christine M — 29 Nov 2009
Gorgeously queensized Civil War drama, with Montgomery Clift playing much more likable hero than self-describedly rotten Rhett Butler was: abolitionist Northerner taking care of his mentally ill wife. Elizabeth Taylor is sympathetically tragic Susanna, whose illness is never expoited for sleazy thrills, and Eva Marie Saint is hero´s true love.
