Review of Rain Man (1988) by Jiana W — 16 Mar 2012
I was surprised by how funny this was at times, mostly thanks to Tom Cruise's character, Charlie. Charlie is incredibly hot-headed and has frequent outbursts of anger. Couple that with Raymond who has a set routine and schedule and isn't too keen on bending those for anyone or anything and the results are surprisingly amusing and laugh-out-loud worthy.
Interesting fact: I realized that the character Runt from the 90s animated show "Animaniacs" is based on Dustin Hoffman's character. Both of them say "Definitely, definitely" before many of their sentences and Runt's vocal inflections are identical to Hoffman's. "Animaniacs" just continues to amaze me, even to this day, with its subtle references to classic movies and pop culture. Things like that went way over my head as a child and now I can look back and appreciate the cleverness that I originally missed.
