Review of Rain Man (1988) by Baurushan J — 26 Aug 2012
The story is about a Californian named Charlie Babbitt who is informed that his long-estranged father has died. Expecting at least a portion of the elder Babbitt's $3 million estate, Charlie learns that all he's inherited is his dad's prize roses and a 1949 Buick Roadmaster.
Discovering that the $3 million is being held in trust for an unidentified party, he goes to see who that party really is only to find out that it is really his long lost older brother named Raymond Babbitt whom Charlie never knew about.
Raymond is autistic but has superb recall otherwise can function like a normal human being. He is also an expert at numbers knowing how to calculate, count and memorize telephone numbers and other vivid details without a second's hesitation.
Charlie is also forced to live in Raymond's daily lifestyle such as by watching People's Court and Jeopardy on TV and travel how Raymond wants to travel safely no matter what. Soon getting used to Raymond's autism, Charlie learns not to let go of his brother.
Well no matter what this movie was great. It was strongly scripted, has well-written characters, is a well focused dramatic movie.and I liked the performances of both Dustin Hoffman and Tom Cruise who both nearly carry the whole movie through.
Rain Man gets a decent 10/10.
