Review of Rain Man (1988) by Anthony R — 17 Mar 2013
"Rain Man" is a classic film that has remained one of my favourite films to this day.
The performances are probably the standout point, and Tom Cruise and in particular Dustin Hoffman bring out A-level performances for this film.
The storyline as well is inspired, tackling mental health using the buddy road trip formula, making audiences feel comfortable with a subject matter that is often viewed as taboo even today.
Overall, this film stands alongside "One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest" and (possibly, I haven't seen it yet) "Silver Linings Playbook" as great films which deal with mental health. And that's a positive in my books.
