Review of Rain Man (1988) by Dave S — 06 Jun 2015
Ebert described films as being empathy machines, and Rain Man is perfect proof of that. Classy and graceful, this human-centric tale may be a bit long and at points a bit sappy, but the emotions are strong and heart-wrenching.
Cruise and Hoffman are both outstanding, with a chemistry that's through the roof. With themes like excess, self-centeredness, and finding your identity in wealth or family, it's a straight-up solid adult drama.
