Very true to life stuff here; I can almost imagine his realness, there's the grittiness of the New York streets, in this film noir-ish feeling type of film and yes he was a real man, a forgotten pro boxer and very seriously messed up guy, immature, jealous, a charismatic man in his time, great movie!
