Review of Raging Bull (1980) by Thesweboo — 08 Dec 2018
Let's adress the good things first; the acting, style and music. But the story is extremely unengaging. I had a miserable time watching this movie since the main character is being a meathead for 90% of the movie.
There is absolutely no one to root for, the movie goes on for way too long and in the end it's just so unrewarding. I didn't once feel sympathy for La Motta. He is played almost too well by De Niro hahaha.
So it's a well-made movie that I personally couldn't connect with at all. It's a movie I appreciate much more than I like. As a movie experience I almost want to rate it 0/10 but as movie it's an 8, 9 or even 10 as most people like to give it.
What we can thank this movie for is the birth of superduo De Niro and Pesci which would eventually star together again in the far better GoodFellas.
