Review of Quo Vadis (1951) by Anna K — 24 Feb 2008
I can't help but watch this movie with an ironic modern eye--chuckling at all the Hollywood excess that was meant to be serious art at the time. Corny as hell, with lines that make you groan ("Is it true the new empress was once a harlot?" "You must know that a woman's past is of no consequence when she mates with a god!").
But that's why it's more fun to watch than other religious Roman epics. Whatever it is, it's never boring.
