Review of Quiet Riot: Well Now You're Here, There's No Way Back (2014) by Gary M — 24 Feb 2015
Strolling through the 200 channels of crap I stumbled upon Quiet Riots "Well Now You're Here, There's No Way Back". Being a Metal Head in the crazy 80's, I'm all about reliving those days so I popped a beer and settled in.
I must admit I wasn't the biggest fan of Quiet Riot back in those days and didn't really remember why but once I saw Kevin on screen it all kinda came back into focus. To put it lightly, Kevin Debrow could be abrasive, especially when talking about the other bands that preceded them in that golden era of Heavy Metal.
But this merely a blip in rockumentary and the main focus turns to Frankie Banali. Frankie is an enigma, born to be a rock star but he's been thrown a bad deck of cards both in life and musically.
Frankie has lost more close people in his life than most people will experience at his age but his tenacity is what makes this story special. At one point in the movie Dee Snyder openly bets against Frankie and Quiet Riot to ever do anything worthwhile but Banali picks up the pieces and moves forward.
There will be parts that will make you wince as when a new (and since fired) singer forgets the lyrics to Come on Feel the Noise not once but a few times. Remarkably these guys don't give up that easily and come together at the end while performing at the M3 Festival and sounded great.
Looking at their 2015 tour schedule, Quiet Riot with new singer Jizzy Pearl (Ya gotta love that name) are back and hitting on some major stages across the U.S. A. I will be happy to throw the middle finger to Dee Snyder and at 51 years old catch my first Quiet Riot show when they hit Detroit this summer \m/ \m/ #gettheflick.
