Review of Quatermass and the Pit (1967) by L J — 26 Jul 2007
Thrilling, belated sequel (a mere TEN YEARS after Quatermass 2) from Hammer, again adapted from the TV series. An ancient evil is uncovered in the Underground with devastating effects for London.
I much prefer Andrew Keir as Quatermass to Brian Donlevy (yes, grumpy Brian) - he's a far more level-headed, agreeable fellow.
Also featuring a young Julian Glover and the ever-wonderful Barbara Shelley. Some pretty spectacular special effects for 1967. This is one of the best films Hammer ever made.
