Review of Pyramid (2014) by Greg B — 07 Dec 2014

"The Pyramid" is a found footage/horror film about a team of archaeologists and their camera crew who unearth an underground pyramid haunted by a sinister presence. I was expecting this film to be worse than it was based on the critic reviews, but it actually wasn't that bad.

The scares are jump variety and nothing extremely remarkable, and the acting is in the serviceable, not good category, but I thought the film had a very unique plot and premise. Some of what happens is downright horrifying and chilling, and you don't anticipate who the creature is.

I obviously won't spoil it, but once the identity of the creature is revealed, you will understand why I found that angel to be unique. There were several moments in the film that legitimately scared the shit out of me, even if I felt the tension building.

There are still plot holes to be had in this film, as well as some sketchy cinematography, but this film could have been a lot worse and I'm happy it was actually all right -------------------------------------------- C+.
