Review of Punch-Drunk Love (2002) by Mark B — 14 Jun 2011
Perhaps the oddest and most beautiful romantic-comedy of all time. Imagine if Quentin Tarantino and the Coen Brothers had a child that made a film adapted from an Andy Warhol screenplay, throw in some David Lynch somewhere and you're about halfway there.
Paul Thomas Anderson establishes himself as a savant of cinema with this lucid and striking piece of art. Like a broken metronome playing a masterpiece, it's a sinister, uneasy and ultimately enriching human experience.
