Considering when it was released, this is a ground breaking horror movie which gave birth to the slasher horror sub genre. Perkins gives quite a chilling performance as motel owner Norman Bates meanwhile scream queen Janet Leigh's put in a decent performance with flair as well.
Overall it is a masterful and brilliant creation by director Alfred Hitchcock.
