Review of Psycho (2007) by Magical W — 10 Jun 2016

Alright, that Vivian Leigh bait-and-switch is historically great storytelling, and filmmaking. There's no question. The rest of the movie, though? It's pretty good. Everything I read says that Hitch was obsessed with keeping the final twist a secret, but I get the sense that he was more concerned with making it seem like Leigh is the protagonist so as to heighten the impact of that shower scene.

Of course it works, like gangbusters (I can only imagine the incredible shock one would have received watching this thing blind), but he seems to lose a little interest after that, and it becomes something a little more conventional, and even sometimes bad, specifically with the psychiatrist who will simply not shut the fuck up.
