Review of Psycho (1998) by Seth M — 03 Oct 2013
Three movies in three consecutive years changed the industry forever. Vertigo, North by Northwest, and Psycho cement Hitchcock as the greatest filmmaker in history. THE horror movie, Psycho must have sent people running for the exits in 1960.
Alfred Hitchcock broke out the old black and white equipment to prove that he could not only discretely creep you out, he can scare the you know what out of you too. This is yet another flawless movie from the master.
The way he frames it all, his camera shots can tell a story with no words...it is movie art of the highest order. You can't watch this movie today without knowing what is coming yet it is still surprisingly scary for a fifty plus year old movie.
Out of all the horror movies in all the horror subgenres, Psycho is the best and as such is on a very short list of all time movie must sees.
