Promised Land has a lot of promise but very land to stand it's ground, a perfectly reasonable story with a touch of realism. However you always find these cheesy endings where the protagonist changes his mind and decides to support the locals after having his mind brainwashed by mega-billion dollar companies.

I mean the cast was very well chosen, all have experience and do their roles just fine but it's at the end of the movie where you think "Do I honestly think that he would give it all up for just a town that he knows deep down is going to go bankrupt?".
