Review of Promised Land (2012) by Bloodmarsh K — 03 Feb 2013
An interesting if predictable moral quandry film focusing on an industrial company attempting to buy out a town for the gas that lays in the ground and whether or not it is worth the risk to the population for it to be harvested or not.
Hal Holbrook, Damon and McDormand provide solid if to their strength performances while delivering the message home, with Van Sant adding a slight magical indie dreamlike feel to the proceedings through the cutting and shot selection of the piece.
A tad slow in places, but not bad for what it is.
