Review of Promised Land (2012) by Wesley W — 18 Jan 2014
Review:
It's not very often that a Matt Damon film comes out and I never have heard of it, but this was one of them. It's not actually a big blockbuster which we are all used to watching Matt Damon in, but it is a feel good movie which I quite enjoyed. I liked the chemistry between all of the characters and you do end up feeling for the town who have to make the decision to sell the land to a billion dollar company. All go the characters put in a believable performance and it shows that Matt Damon can play any type of role that is put in front of him, even though he does look pretty overweight in the movie. Anyway, if your into your emotional dramas that this is a good watch, but if your expecting An action packed Matt Damon movie then your very well mistaken. Watchable!
Round-Up:
This movie is a mixed between Erin Brockovich and A Civil Action. It's a sweet movies which has a with a all star cast, but it isn't massive Hollwood material. It seemed more like an I dependant movie that wanted to get a few points across to the audience. There is some comedy which lightens the mood of the film and makes it a joy to watch. It's not often that Mart Damon's movie make a loss, but I'm sure that this film won't hurt his career.
Budget: $15million.
Worldwide Gross: $8million.
I recommend this movie to people who are into there emotional dramas about a town who have to make the decision if to sell there land to a big cooperate company. 6/10.
