Review of Prom Night in Mississippi (2009) by Ian G — 03 Feb 2009
A quality doc. This was actually the second film I caught at Sundance. While the storytelling wasn't that great, and the filmmakers definitely could have done more with the interviews, it was a great account of a turning point for one small Mississippi town that should have happened decades ago.
While not as dramatic or suspenseful as "The Cove" this still had a heartwarming feel to it. It was inspiring to see how determined these high school kids were to put an end to an age-old tradition that has too long divided the people of Charleston, Mississippi.
A real treat to witness on screen!
