Review of Prisoners (2013) by Paul J — 10 May 2015
Canadian Denis Villenuive is on a role. Two films in one year, both excellent and now he's directing Blade Runner 2. Prisoners is a superb thriller that captures empathetic characters, a gripping storyline and a pitch-perfect ending.
There is never a false note and the film doesn't feel "Hollywood" for a second. Jackman's performance is memorably intense and the audience is left thinking what's right and what's wrong.
It is not just about a prisoner but rather about how we are all prisoners of our own minds and perceptions.
