Review of Prisoners (2013) by Sean N — 27 Jun 2018
A film teeming with symbolism and emotion, Prisoners is another example of the brilliance of director Villeneuve. Once again, the dark, mysterious, ugly parts of humanity that are revealed when we're backed into corners are highlighted with an almost grotesque fascination.
Gyllenhaal and Jackman are stellar, driving the story with impassioned, heart-wrenching performances. Despite what I felt was quite a contrived ending, this is a solid suspense with a gripping plot.
