Review of Pride and Glory (2008) by Kate R — 13 Oct 2009
You couldn't wish for a better cast, from Colin Farrell through to Jennifer Ehle, it is simply outstandingly acted. Such a pity that the story is not stronger, or less predictable, however this lack does not ruin the film itself.
The actors work so hard with what they have and overwhelm the plot in many ways, merely by being so good at their jobs. It is one of the best performances that I have seen from Edward Norton, of whom I am already a strong fan.
Lesser actors than Noah Emmerich and Colin Farrell could have been easily eclipsed by the strength of his performance, but together created the triumvirate of brothers torn between divided loyalties. Grab this cast, give them a different script and this would have been one of the best in recent years.
