Review of Pride and Glory (2008) by Ben F — 22 Nov 2009

Before watching this movie I had seen that many people believed this movie to be completely predictable, and just a recycled plot from dozens and dozens of cop movies before it. Sure that it was a little predictable but "Pride and Glory" had a big spark to it, which made it a very descent film.

I originally rented this movie because I'm a huge fan of Edward Norton. Movies like "American History X" and "Fight Club" all have Norton acting at the top of his game, so when I saw that Jon Voight and Noah Emmerich were costarring, it was a no brainer to rent.

To me, what made this movie what it was, was it's acting, without a doubt. I'd just like to say that I was VERY impressed with Colin Farrell. I was expecting a completely atrocious performance from him, but what I received was actually......well acting. That made me really happy. But the real acting in this movie belongs to Norton. He was just so good, and he got better and better as the movie progressed.

A lot of people also said that they weren't really impressed with the ending of the movie. I really don't know what these people are talking about, because I feel that the ending scenes of the film are the best scenes in the entire movie. I feel that the second half of the film had everything stronger from acting, to script, and even to thrills. Everything progressed overtime, and I really liked that.

Sure we've seen it before. Sure we've seen good cop, bad cop. But I don't think movies like this could ever get old. I LOVE cop movies, ranging from crime dramas like this, to cop action movies. "Pride and Glory" really is better than you think, so don't listen to what some people might tell you. Do yourself a favor.....when your in the mood....give it a view....I don't think you'll be disappointed.
