Review of Predator 2 (1990) by Darren G — 10 Jun 2010

We all have our guilty-pleasure films, and 'Predator 2' is one of my all-time favourites.

This 1990 A-grade grindhouser is bloodthirsty, brutal, nasty, ridiculous and vicious - and at the same time exciting, hilarious, spectacular, unnerving and vivid.

There's an ugly yet beautiful edginess about 'Predator 2' that I've always enjoyed. Its humid and terrifying near-future LA looks like it could burst into full-scale war at any minute - and then the Predator shows up.

And the cast - what a wonderful assembly of urban hard-cases, bludgeoning through each day like it will be their last (and often is).

I have 'Predator 2' on DVD and have it seen many times - but I would love to see it again on the big screen :).
