Review of Possession (1981) by Jay N — 20 Nov 2009
Read the book. byatt wrote a pretty good book. this is not a pretty good movie. there is very little chemistry amongst any of the characters, (eckhart in particular was not fit for the role) the condensed version of the story is still too much for the allotted time, and nothing really ever comes together.
it is good to see jennifer ehle in anything. I do enjoy the idea of the characters trying to connect themselves to larger elements of art and literature and metaphor. labute just doesnt seem to be up to the large task of wrangling this story.
