It's just another day in Pontypool.
Pontypool is a small town where everyone knows everyone, for better or worse. The town has its own radio station that delivers news about the weather and local events. When an outbreak of some sort is unleashed upon the town, and people start feeding on each other, those within the radio station will need to work together to keep their sanity and inform the masses as rumors trickle into the station.
"It means something's about to happen. Something big. But something is always about to happen.".
Bruce McDonald, director of Roadkill, Highway 61, American Whiskey Bar, Elimination Dance, The Dark Room, and the upcoming My Babysitter's a Vampire, delivers Pontypool. The storyline for this picture is compelling and well delivered. The acting is solid and the cast includes Stephen McHattie (Watchmen), Lisa Houle, and Georgina Reilly (The Dark Room).
"We can't have dead air.".
The movies Pontypool and Dead Air have the exact same plots. Pontypool contains better acting and a better script than Dead Air while Dead Air has more intense action scenes. Overall, this is the superior picture and I thoroughly enjoyed McHattie's performance. This is a very different take on the zombie genre and worth viewing for fans of the genre.
"You're going to eat me soon, aren't you?".
