Review of Pontypool (2009) by Nicole J — 15 Oct 2010
I am a big horror movie buff, however I have never liked the zombie movie genre. I had heard of this movie through itunes because they had it up as a free preview download. After watching the trailer I was defiantly interested.
However I didn't get to watch the movie for almost a good two years after it had been out, it was worth the wait. I was literally glued to my seat I didn't get up once while it was airing. I loved it for a couple of reasons.
First it was a total different take on zombies, the main reason why I can't stand zombie movies is because of how they get a a disease, then die, then come back craving the flesh of living humans.
How they get the disease that makes them "zombies" is really unique (I wont tell u what), the "zombies" do not crave human flesh they are merely driven mad by the disease, and the "zombies" are not technically dead.
The other reason why I love this movie is how there is so much mystery involved in they way it was filmed. You are pretty much inside the radio station for the entire movie, so most of the stuff about the zombies are being told to you through people who call in which gives such an extreme creepiness to this movie.
Despite the fact you do not see the "zombies" until near the end of the movie and see very little blood for a zombie movie its disturbing and can make your stomach lurch with the feeling of butterflies.
The last reasoning behind my extreme love for this movie is I felt that there was an underlining message in it, which I cannot tell you what or why I think that because it will ruin the movie. If you have been searching for an original movie, not just horror, this movie is for you!
