Review of Pontypool (2009) by Zach O — 24 Jul 2012
Groundbreaking and inventive. The root theme of this movie is an extremely important one. Language shapes us but is also masking something very dangerous. This is not, however, a zombie film. I don't know why it was marketed it as such.
See it with an open mind and a group of friends and you will have much to talk about afterwards. Stephen McHattie is perfect in this film. Most of the horror happens offscreen and we are merely "narrated" to, but it is unsettling.
The performances still give me shivers. This is in the top ten of the greatest horror movies of the 2000s. Nearly perfect.
