Review of Pompeii (2014) by Anthony R — 26 Jul 2014
This is a disaster flick through and through. Do not go in expecting more than mindless action and poor dialogue with a cheesy love story, and you will be fine. If you are like me, you go for the Vesuvius eruption anyway.
Sure, one hour of senselessness occurs before you get there, but when it happens, it is a true spectacle. One can only imagine how it really was, but Anderson does a nice job of recreating it for the viewer.
One major gripe: Kiefer Sutherland's villain was not played to its potential at all. He needed to have a rougher edge to make him work with the film. I give it 3 out 5 and recommend it for Paul W.
S. Anderson and action fans.
