Review of Poltergeist (2015) by Michael S — 04 Jun 2015
Sam Rockwell totally hit me in the feels. That man can totally act, though his typical care-free sarcastic wit shines through as well. I liked the little girl as well. She was cute and endearing and not nearly as creepy as the original Carole Ann. I liked that they involved the older sister a lot more in this version. Dad seems to make better decisions in the midst of crisis that the original dad, anyway. And the Griffin, he's my little super hero now, too.
It's almost a given that I'll like whatever movie the pretentious "professional" critics pan. This is not a rotten movie and it doesn't pretend to be merely a cover of the original. It pay homage the same way the new Karate Kid did to the original and adds all the new technology as an update.
I liked it.
