Review of Poltergeist (2015) by Craig F — 06 Jul 2015
The main problem is its lack of originality, its a weaker retread of things we've seen before. The first half is solid but after that it turns into an unfocused mess. Sam Rockwell is easily the best part, not that that's saying much; It feels as if everyone after the halfway mark is acting in entirely different movies, tonally uneven.
Although there are some impressive visuals, there's no big family epiphany at the end and the movie climaxes far too quickly (even offers an equally underwhelming second climax). Obviously they don't know what scares you as the tagline suggests.
