Review of Poltergeist (2015) by Jonas C — 02 Jul 2017
Aside from a couple of decent scares and a small number of imaginative special effects moments, it's hard to generate any enthusiasm for this movies' existence. With the mastery of the original 1982 version casting a daunting shadow over this remake, everything about it comes off as second best.
The script, the story telling, the characters and the lack of any discernible chemistry between the actors. It tentatively copies moments and scenes from the original almost with a muted sense embarrassment at knowing those famous moments and scenes aren't going to be as good.
..and they're not. A pointless exercise in cynical movie making for the wrong reasons. i.e. money.
