Review of Poltergeist (2015) by Marc W — 29 Sep 2015

Surprised a little in that I enjoyed this remake. The "scares" might escalate too quickly after movies like The Conjuring and the like, but it is still solid. Some of the effects are too hokey (the tree, that's never going to look right).

Rockwell and DeWitt bring at least better than average performances. I think for a lot of people, the enjoyment of the movie will come down to how much they buy Kyle Catlett's performance. Luckily for myself, I did buy it.

Basically the main character, the young actor gives a very solid performance, and most importantly, doesn't capsize the movie, which could have easily happened.
