Police Story is everything I want from a Jackie Chan film - great action, compelling story, brilliant comedy and awful dubbing all accompanied by a typical 80s soundtrack.

It all kicks off (literally speaking) with a police raid in which Jackie (the cleverly named character played by Jackie Chan) takes down the biggest drug dealers around. His 'reward' for such an achievement is to protect the secretary of the drug dealers who has agreed to testify against them. Of course, things never go smoothly and the film has the usual twists and turns you'd expect.

The film mixes moments of comedy with some great action pieces from Jackie (who, as always, performed his own stunts) and the supporting cast. One scene in particular where he fights a bunch of goons while they try to abduct the secretary from her car had me captivated. But you expect that from a Chan film, he's a genius when it comes to martial arts and choreography. What shocked me was how genuinely funny the film is. I rarely laugh out loud at films but this had me giggling quite a lot.

It is clear to see why this film started Jackie's career and turned him into the Hollywood star he is. Chan is a legend and it's great to see where it all began, I would prefer to see more films like this from Chan nowadays.
