Review of Police Story (1985) by Emile H — 18 Nov 2016
Jackie Chan is such a hero in my eyes, not just because he's broken barriers between Asia and North America, but also he is so committed to his direction that he executes a hell of an action-comedy movie.
He plays an equally committed cop who is half loose cannon and half bumbling, which results in some of Hong Kong cinema's amazing stunts and fight scenes. Not to mention, he pulls such great comedy chops, and has no problem being either cunning or playing a fool for most of the time.
As a result, the movie may seem very typical of American action comedy movies, but the extreme hurt he puts himself through make for a kick-ass reel on the east side.
