Review of Pokémon Detective Pikachu (2019) by Zissou135 — 09 May 2019

I've been a Pokemon fan since 1997, so please understand that my opinions on this film were formed through a thick lens of nostalgia. With that said, I believe this movie to be the absolute best representation of the Pokemon universe. As a long time fan, being able to sit and watch people and Pokemon interact in a modern setting in exactly the same way I imagined it during my childhood was genuinely magical.

The story was better than I expected but lacked any significant depth. The characters were generally relatable and served the plot well, but didn't do anything to carry the film.

This film is a dream come true for fans of Pokemon and will hopefully serve as an introduction to the property for young people.
