Review of Pokémon Detective Pikachu (2019) by Taipeijoey — 20 May 2019
I went into this movie expecting your typical video-game-movie type movie, but I was quite wrong. Detective Pikachu has finally cracked the code about how to do a video game adaptation (mostly) correctly.
The CG was very impressive, Justice Smith and Ryan Reynolds play the leads very well, and the story works well (even if the twist isn't hard to guess). The ending of the movie was weird and parts were very confusing, but a solid climax nonetheless.
The movie did something I'd never think it'd do; it made me want to see more.
