(1984) Places in The Heart.

DRAMA.

The set up at the beginning has Sally Field as Edna Spalding loses a husband from an unfortunate accident, leaves her with not much option but to search other means to fend for herself and her two children during "The Great Depression" by getting into cotton. Because the times were very hard during the 1930's, it was especially hard for African Americans and widows. What this film does is take a character puts that character into a complicated situation and then shows how it's posssible for her to do it! The real highlight of this film is between it's main stars of Sally Field, John Malkovich and Danny Glover! However, what prevents this film from recieving a perfect rating is that other story I didn't care too much about which involves another husband's Wayne Lomax(Ed Harris)affair with another married woman! A very high "B".

3 out of 4.

Sally Field received a Best Oscar Actress Award in a Leading Role as did Robert Benton who won an Oscar for it's Screenplay but not as Director for this film!
