Review of Pitch Perfect (2012) by Lewis E — 25 Jul 2015
The movie version of Glee to some extent. As always story is the same as every adolescent sing/dance competition based film (but you'll have to watch and see if they make it to nationals and win. Oooh the suspense must be killing you).
Obviously it fails to compensate by being funny since most gags rely on character stereotypes, Rebel Wilson pointing out every five seconds that she's fat and puns which involve "aca" being put in front of words.
A few surprising laughs and cameos exist admittedly but the main plot as a whole makes proceedings very cheesy. The aca-cringe got so bad in one of the spontaneous singing scenes that I actually started shaking, then again it was quite chilly and the window was open.
Nevertheless, 'Pitch Perfect' was expectedly too girly for my tastes and so I won't be making a sing and dance about it.
