Review of Pitch Black (2000) by Ruth W — 10 Jul 2009
I initially kept away from this movie since I wasn't really that into Vin Diesel. It wasn't until I heard more about it and it's strong sci-fi nature that I eventually became interested.
Pitch Black is an homage to many movies before it, in some ways. You can see influences of science fiction greats like Aliens and even touches of Dune. The whole thing is pretty much the survival-horror concept placed on an alien planet, but done rather well. Sure, the story wasn't all that filled out but that's not the point it's sometimes how little you know that drives things.
I understand now why this turned into a multi-feature franchise.
