Review of Pitch Black (2000) by Adrianna M — 23 May 2010
Pitch Black is a science fiction action movie directed by David Twohy and stars Vin Diesel.
In the film, dangerous criminal Richard B. Riddick (Vin Diesel) is being transported to prison in a cargo spacecraft. When the spaceship is damaged by comet debris and makes an emergency crash landing on an empty desert planet, Riddick escapes. However, when predatory flying alien creatures begin attacking the survivors, Riddick joins forces with the crew to develop a plan to escape the planet.
When this film first came out it didn't really interest me and I could of cared less if I seen it or not, until I finally sat down watched it back then on VHS and thought it ain't that bad, kinda a cult classic type of movie. The film could have been written better and the creatures were cool but could have looked a bit better. The acting was alright. I thought Vin Diesel was the best and a really great choice as Riddick. I think Vin Diesel is what made this film watchable. His character was great. The special effects were find, but not the best you would see in a film. The story was alright, but just wasn't there.
