Review of Pitch Black (2000) by I Am The Vast Universe I — 30 Dec 2011
I originally watched this film with my Dad when I was around 12 years old in 2000 0r so..I decided it was time I re-visited Pitch Black to see if their was anything to it that would hold up in the present.
The most intriguing aspect of Pitch Black is its central premise. The very concept of being trapped on a planet with three suns about to consume the entire planet into darkness with its overpowering eclipse is an frighting idea but that's only half of it then you must try to survive against a man eating alien species that dwells in the darkness waiting to strike.
Pitch Black's premise is excellent while the film does have quite a few obvious flaws it can simply be overlooked because of Pitch Black's sheer amount of building tension and entertainment value.
Vin diesel is decent as Riddick while Keith David gives a solid performance as the Holy Man..Pitch Black opened my eyes to the fascinating world of Sci-Fi Horror and for that it gets an recommendation from me.
