Review of Pinocchio (1940) by Jon C — 02 Feb 2016
One of Disney's most perfect films.
Based on the book (albeit very sadistic book) it's about a boy learning wright from wrong, resisting temptation, and making the better choices instead of the bad ones.
There is a lot of genuine heart and emotion in this script which doesn't exist in a majority of the Disney movies now.
The movie can be really fun and colorful but it can also be really dark and terrifying.
Pinocchio faces a number of challenges from accepting invitations from strangers to having fun just for the fun of it to being brave.
Anyone who lies will just make it grow and grow, greed is a powerful thing, and being good has its own rewards.
The climax particularly with the whale Monstro is tremendously enjoyable.
Love Geppetto, the Blue Fairy, but the real host is Jiminy Cricket teaching us that any wish can come true as long as we let our conscience be our guide.
A true classic for the ages.
