Review of Pierrepoint: The Last Hangman (2005) by Jane S — 05 Jan 2008
This is a true story of an executioner and how his stoic handling of his job allows him to detach himself from what he does. However, as time goes on his conscience starts to get the better of him. You cannot help but admire his compassion for those whom he executes after he has done the deed and yet it makes you question whether he is justified to have blood on his hands.
I do not agree with killing people as a punishment as I feel that no-one has the right to make such a decision on another life nor should they be morally obliged to. I thought this was a very good film that was well acted and certainly made me think.
