Review of Picnic at Hanging Rock (1975) by Vinnie G — 13 Mar 2013
This is a truly eerie film; much in the same way of Haneke's The White Ribbon - it shares a similar feeling of gloom and hopelessness. My only criticism is that it contains one or two pointless dream sequence effects, in order to keep the viewer on point and remind them of certain plot-points.
Overall, this is a really well acted parable, of sorts, on flawed hierarchy, oppression and freedom... but with an odd supernatural twist.
