Review of Picnic at Hanging Rock (1975) by Donna B — 24 Feb 2018
Unsatisfying and too many questions left unanswered. People make comments, and other people just stare and don't respond, unlike real life. People don't express themselves when they're unhappy or upset or happy, unlike in real life.
Nothing comes together at the end. Hard to catch the names of all the girls, which is important. OTOH, the cinematography is wonderful, the aura of the film is peaceful and sets the background of the film.
The acting is professional. The basic story is good, or it would be if more information were given. I feel as if bits and pieces at every stage are left out. The film overly focuses on closeups of young pretty girls.
What a surprise. I wouldn't watch it again.
