I saw little visual poetry outside of the incredible pickpocket scenes, instead I found it to be an affecting small and intimate film. However, the film was hindered by a number of poor performances but succeeded in its ambiguity and its central character, and in particular his relationships with Jeanne and his mother.

This review of Pickpocket (1959) was written by on 21 Sep 2007.

Pickpocket has generally received very positive reviews.
