Review of Pickpocket (1959) by Katherine C — 19 Mar 2010
Bresson makes a film that is not as powerful as mouchette or balthasar, but is very important in terms of his technique. it defies almost every established film technique, and asks its viewers questions about emotion.
there is such a lack of balance in the film, things are so out of place until the end when our main character comes to a revelation, everything slides into focus. it draws bits on dostoyevsky, sam fuller, and others, but in the end its the bresson show.
