What intrigued me the most to see this was hearing that Denzel Washington and Tom Hanks were in the same movie. I also liked how Bruce Springsteen and Neil Young were both nominated for The Academy Award for Best Song. Neil Young is a fellow Canadian and I love that guy, however you can't beat The Boss, and "Streets of Philidelphia" is a very moving song and powerful song.

Speaking of moving and powerful, I am going to get to thie movie now. Tom Hanks plays the role of a very sucessful lawyer for a big shot firm. He gets recently promoted and is very excited and happy. There are to things he has not mentioned to anyone at his firm,.

1. He is a Homosexual.

2. He is dying of the AIDS virus.

His superior's or the boss's at this firm are very old fashioned people, because well they are old themselves. Tom Hanks character develops a skin lesion on his forhead which is obviously noticable but when asked what it is, he states he was hit in the head with a tennis ball. One of his boss's knows exactly what it is because he has seen it before. Before you know it he is out of a job, the once top lawyer at his firm has suddenly been framed for being irresponsible and thus gives his superiors an excuse to can him.

Enter Denzel Washington,.

He is also a lawyer and has been challenged by Tom Hanks before in the courtroom in the past. When Tom Hanks approaches him (after approaching 9 other lawyers that turned him down) to sue for wrongful dismissal he turns him down as well at first but then comes to his senses and puts his homophobia aside. This begining a very very emotional journey for himself and Tom Hanks. The movie is very good and you need to see it. The message is very powerful and hits society with the cold palm of reality, much like Schindlers List did, which was also released the same year...but who are we kidding it is no Schindler's List, However Tom Hanks snapped up his first Oscar for Best Actor with this film then followed it up the next year for Forrest Gump.
